GORDON MOOGK (VE3DBP)

Gordon Moogk (VE3DBP) died peacefully in Kincardine, Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017, at the age of 87. Proud father of Doug (Grace) of Waterloo, Danny (Marianne) of Ingersoll, and Mike (Rob) of Kitchener. Loving grandfather of Jeffrey (Kathy), Kevin (Amanda), Duane (Katie), Jennifer (Michel) Lajoie, and Jason (Aine); and great-grandfather of Owen, Aiden, Max, Ava, Gus, Lou, Logan, Chantelle, Chelsea and Gavin. Remembered by his sisters, Helen (Frank) Elfert of Vancouver, and Elsie Lawson of Mississauga; and sister-in-law, Marion Rohr of Waterloo. Predeceased by his parents, Frank and Elsie Moogk; his brother, David; and brothers-in-law, Bruce Lawson and Ken Rohr. Gord was a dedicated amateur radio operator for nearly 70 years. He was past-president of the K-W Amateur Radio Club and RAC assistant director Southern Ontario. He was proud of the fact that as an amateur radio operator, he made contact with people in more than 280 countries, as well as the Mir space station. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman throughout his life. Gord grew up and raised his family in Waterloo before retiring to Point Clark 29 years ago. Special thanks to service providers from CCAC, his thoughtful friends and caring neighbours. A special thank you to Dr. Lisa Roth for her compassionate care and friendship. Cremation has taken place. A private family interment will take place at a future date in Point Clark. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, from 1-4 p.m., at the Point Clark Community Centre, 344 Lake Range Drive, Point Clark.
