PASTOR GORDON McDONALD

Pastor Gordon McDonald of Wiarton, formerly of Kinloss Township, died peacefully at Gateway Haven, Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019 at the age of 78. In 1960, Gordon married his high school sweetheart, Shirley McClure, and together they operated a dairy farm and raised five children on the farm Gordon grew up on in Kinloss Township. After 20 years of farming, Gordon heard a call to serve in ministry and began a career in Christian Counselling then as an ordained minister until his retirement in his early 70s. Proud father of Mary Helen and her husband, Steve Carter, of Fordwich; Judy and her husband, Dave Hickson, of Shallow Lake; and Karen and her husband, Chris Barrie, and Peter and his wife, Julie, all of Barrie. Grandfather of Aaron Carter (Laura), Elsbeth Carter, and Rachel (Jame Wray), Adam Linde (Brenda), Lukas Linde, and Holly Linde, Marshall and Wyatt Hickson, Jessica and Brittany Barrie, and Breanna, Aria and Nolan McDonald. Brother of Mildred Young (Don Cluff), Isabel Thompson (late Robert), Esther Bushell (late Clare), and Elma Mae (Glen Kaufman); and sadly missed by brothers- and sisters-in-law, Ann MacDonald, Lorna (Tony Vasey), Bob McClure (Betty), and Bob Gilchrist (June). Predeceased by his wife, Shirley; his parents, Thomas and Nina; brothers, Malcolm (late Annette), and Kenneth; and sons, Thomas (1961), and David (1994). Friends may call at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Peninsula Chapel, 272 Berford St., Wiarton, 519-534-5341, Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019, from 1-2 p.m., where a service to celebrate Pastor Gord`s life will be conducted from the chapel at 2 p.m. Luncheon to follow at the Faith Tabernacle Church, 343 Taylor Street, Wiarton.
